One way to look at Christianity is to think of it as
a guide to life; to help each find a better relationship with Nature, the
Universe, the One who made them, and to help us in our relationships with the
people we meet and with ourselves.
Christ’s teaching is that we love God, and we love our neighbours as
ourselves. To read more about what
Christians believe, go to here. If
you would like us in Saint Martin’s to pray for you, or for somebody or some
situation important to you, you can email us at St
Martin of Tours, Guston, or drop a note off at the church. No one will contact you unless you
ask. You may also wish to think
about lighting a candle. For some
thoughts on this go to this page. Prayer spans the centuries here in Guston. Local people have brought their
difficulties and hopes to God to pray here in the church for a thousand
years. Here are two prayers that
span some of those centuries. A general prayer that
would have been used by the people of Guston over 450 years ago: “Almightie and merciful God, of thy
bountiful goodnes, kepe us from all thynges that maye hurte us; that we,
beying ready bothe in body and soule, maye with free hearts accomplishe those
things that thou wouldest have doen; Through Jesus Christ our Lord.” -
the
spelling may have changed but the meaning remains the same! But we do need something more relevant to
our own times, and we offer you some more prayers, which we hope you will
find helpful, on the next page – click here If
